This year is our 125th Anniversary; therefore we want our Christmas Eve Street Collection to be even more successful than previous years.

Our team of volunteers and staff contribute their time in order to raise funds for 'those who need it most'.  It is a great event to be a part of and involves working alongside a friendly, generous and caring team.  It is always heart-warming to see the successfulness of our traditional street collections and the generosity that is displayed.  This then makes a huge difference in the lives of families who are in need.

Belfast’s Lord Mayor Councillor Nichola Mallon was in Marks & Spencer Belfast to launch the 15th year of the ‘Giving Tree’, a cross-community initiative run by Belfast Central Mission (BCM) and the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP).  The ‘Giving Tree’ gives members of the public an opportunity to donate a toy or gift for local children with the gifts being divided equally between SVP and BCM before being distributed to families in the weeks leading up to Christmas.  Shoppers choose a tag from the ‘Giving Tree’ to whom they would like to donate a gift – for example, a boy or

Last year BCM distributed over 3.070 toy parcels and 1,650 food parcels to local families and older people in need.

With redundancies continuing across the country and an increasing number of families facing a difficult festive period, BCM is hopeful that once again the general public will dig deep to donate food and toy items to help those in need.
