Congratulations to our volunteers who were nominated for the Age Friendly Belfast Older Volunteer Recognition Award 2017. The celebration took place on Tuesday in City Hall and all the nominees really enjoyed it. Thank you for all your hard work at the Wednesday Lunch Club and ENGAGES ALL Inter-generational Programme and Volunteer Forum.

We would like to share a couple of photographs taken during the Wednesday Lunch Club's Christmas Dinner last week.

The guests of the Lunch Club were also interviewed that day and the footage was used in the Nolan Show on BBC One NI. If you missed the programme you can watch it here.

We would also like to thank our lovely volunteers who help at the Lunch Club every week.

Thank you.

Here's a really inspiring story. A group of young People from BCM Housing Support and Parents' Support, Dungannon were so grateful for all the support they have received that they decided to give something back to the community. Having had their own lives turned around they headed to Belfast on Wednesday armed with packs that included gloves, hats, fleece, water bottles etc.

To mark the end of their 150th anniversary year, Belfast based Neill's Flour teamed up with Patton’s Bakery, celebrity chef Jenny Bristow and students from the Belfast Metropolitan College to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest scone. They also decided to do a good deed and share this delicious scone with some local organisations including BCM.

BCM’s Christmas programme has a long history of helping the most vulnerable members of the local communities. The programme proved to be much needed with people looking for our help every year. In 2015 BCM distributed over 3,070 toy and gift parcels to children and young people and 1,680 food parcels to older people and families who needed them most.
