Claire Keatinge, Commissioner for Older People visits Kirk House

BCM was delighted to welcome Claire Keatinge, Commissioner for Older People for Northern Ireland to Kirk House recently.  This was a great chance for Kirk House to 'show off' and highlight why it is so different to other similar residential accommodation.  After explaining her role and how she works to help older people across Northern Ireland, the Commissioner toured Kirk House with Manager Sarah Penney and heard how they are developing the Memory Wing to provide specialist dementia care.

The Commissioner then mingled with staff, residents and their relatives over coffee and got the opportunity to visit some reisdents individually.

Kirk House is a "housing with care" facility managed by BCM in East Belfast in which independence, freedom of choice, self-esteem and dignity are respected and promoted. Residents are supported to maintain links with their family and local community and the level of care each receives is tailored to meet their individual needs.
