Belfast Lord Mayor Launches 15th Year of Giving Tree Partnership

Belfast’s Lord Mayor Councillor Nichola Mallon was in Marks & Spencer Belfast to launch the 15th year of the ‘Giving Tree’, a cross-community initiative run by Belfast Central Mission (BCM) and the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP).  The ‘Giving Tree’ gives members of the public an opportunity to donate a toy or gift for local children with the gifts being divided equally between SVP and BCM before being distributed to families in the weeks leading up to Christmas.  Shoppers choose a tag from the ‘Giving Tree’ to whom they

Christmas Appeal 2014

Last year BCM distributed over 3.070 toy parcels and 1,650 food parcels to local families and older people in need.  

With redundancies continuing across the country and an increasing number of families facing a difficult festive period, BCM is hopeful that once again the general public will dig deep to donate food and toy items to help those in need.

Exhibition Launch at the Linen Hall Library

As part of BCM's 125th Anniversary celebrations the Linen Hall Library, Belfast is hosting an exhibition of BCM’s archive photographs, documents and artefacts.  On display are some of BCM’s early twentieth century Hogg images of life in the Belfast slums together with a variety of items representing BCM’s involvement in the life of the city.

HELP! BCM's 125th Anniversary Celebrations Continue

BCM staff and congregation have taken part in a light-hearted music video as part of our continuing 125th anniversary celebrations!

Through Changing Scenes Exhibition

The Governors of the Linen Hall Library, Belfast will be hosting an exhibition of BCM Photographs, documents and artefacts to coincide with our 125th Anniversary celebrations. 

Through Changing Scenes commences on 22nd October and will conclude on the 29th November. 

On display will be some of the BCM archive's nationally important collection of early twentieth century Hogg images of life in the Belfast slums together with a variety of items representing BCM's involvement in the life of the city.

Lady Hermon MP Welcomes Plans for Copelands, Dementia and Nursing Care

Lady Sylvia Hermon MP has welcomed the news that BCM has submitted a planning application to build Copelands, Dementia and Nursing Care in Millisle.

Lady Hermon recently joined Peter Passmore, Professor of Ageing and Geriatric medicine at Queen's University Belfast, and BCM Dementia Lead Sarah Penney to have a peek at the plans for the new state-of-the-art dementia and nursing care home that will create 60 jobs in North Down.
