Claire Keatinge, Commissioner for Older People visits Kirk House

BCM was delighted to welcome Claire Keatinge, Commissioner for Older People for Northern Ireland to Kirk House recently.  This was a great chance for Kirk House to 'show off' and highlight why it is so different to other similar residential accommodation.  After explaining her role and how she works to help older people across Northern Ireland, the Commissioner toured Kirk House with Manager Sarah Penney and heard how they are developing the Memory Wing to provide specialist dementia care.

4caring Dementia Services

Belfast Central Mission is part of an exciting and innovative new project which aims to improve the quality of, and access to, care and support for older people with dementia and their families in Northern Ireland. This collaborative project, called 4caring, involves three other local community organisations - the Alzheimer’s Society, Extra Care and the Northern Ireland Hospice.

Volunteer befrienders urgently needed

We urgently need volunteer befrienders to visit isolated older people in the Greater Belfast area.  If you think you can help, please go to our Volunteering page for further details.  Thank you.

Kirk House Annual Sale 2014

Kirk House will be holding its annual sale on Saturday 31st May 2014 between 10am - 12noon. There will be a range of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy and plenty of stalls. A place to call HOME

BCM housing support service believe that a house is more than a physical structure, we believe that it brings security, wellbeing and a sense of pride and community to our young people.

In 2013, we were awarded funding of €8,570.00 from the ESB Electric Aid for our HOME Programme.

Through Changing Scenes

As 2014 brings in Belfast Central Mission's 125th Anniversary, Wesley Weir, our archivist has written "Through Changing Scenes" The story of the first 125 years of BCM from 1889-2014.

The book charts the vast and varied history of Belfast Central Mission from its conception in 1889, through conversion, both World Wars, socialism, the Troubles and right up to the present day with the developments being actioned by BCM at this very moment such as Copelands, Dementia & Nursing Care.
