Hedge Songs Book Launch

Our very own David A. Campton will launch his latest poetry collection, 𝐇𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬, at Grosvenor Hall, Belfast, on Friday 27 February at 7.30pm.
The event is free to attend, with tickets available through Eventbrite. On the night, David will be joined in conversation by Will Leitch, former BBC Radio Ulster presenter, with readings by David's fellow 4 Corners festival members Jim Deeds and Dr Mylie Brennan.

Hedge Songs continues David’s distinctive blend of wit, reflection and spiritual curiosity. Building on the success of his first collection, Doodlings and Doggerel, this new volume deepens his exploration of everyday encounters, faith, nature and the quiet moments that shape a life. This collection of poems was largely written during the pandemic lockdown, hence its title, Hedge Songs, which refers to a feature much noted during the COVID-19 lockdown: a greater awareness of birdsong, with reduced road noise and air traffic no longer drowning it out. Some of the poems included here have been previously posted in some form on David’s blog ‘Virtual Methodist’.

The launch event will feature readings from the new collection, an opportunity to hear the stories behind selected poems, and a chance to meet the author. Grosvenor Hall, home to Belfast Central Mission, provides a fitting venue for a writer whose work has supported the charity’s services in the past. There will also be an opportunity to hear about the BCM Parent Support Programme, for which proceeds from this book will be raising vital funds.
