Toy Appeal Guidance

Toy Appeal Guidance

As many churches and groups start to organise their appeal response- we wanted to offer advice on gifting for this year’s appeal. The aim with this is to reduce waste, and get the best match for our end users, so your help in passing this information on is greatly appreciated.

  • All items should be new/ in packaging but not gift wrapped. Clothing should be labelled for size and gender.

We welcome gifts for

  • Children: 0- 16 both boys and girls. We especially encourage gifts for older children as this range tends to get the lowest density of donations each year.  (age 10+)

We prefer not to receive

  • Soft Toys
  • Anything perishable, including food or cosmetics
  • Anything that requires significant ongoing cost to use- e.g. heavy use of batteries or that requires a subscription.
  • Anything that requires additional elements to fully work- e.g. nerf guns with no foam darts.
  • Anything with affiliations to sporting teams or emblems that are not universal.

We also ask donors to consider a reasonable scale for their gift. We have had some hugely generous single gifts in years past that often are hard to place fairly- especially in families with multiple children. E.g. Large playsets, bicycles,

If considering a voucher, please donate via the Justgiving page, and we will use this to centrally purchase toys, and also support family cost of living (via SVP equally). Our buying power allows us to get more for less this way. There have also been instances of gift cards coming in at the bottom of bags and we have had to double check for them, so this way is more secure.
