Housing Support for Older People in the Dungannon and Armagh area has been extended and they now cover the Craigavon, South Armagh and bordering areas. This brings the total number supported from 50 to 80 older people. This is great news for the team as it also welcomes two new members of staff.
The Planning application for BCM's flagship project, Copelands, Dementia and Nursing Care, has now been recommended for approval by DoE Planning and was endorsed by Ards Borough Council at their meeting on 13th January.
Christmas 2014 was a great year as we were able to help a lot of individuals and families who were in need.
Thanks to the generosity of churches, schools, local businesses and individuals we have had another successful Christmas at Belfast Central Mission. This year, we gave 3, 250 children and teenagers a toy parcel or gift and approximately 1, 860 families and senior citizens a food parcel. All of the individuals and families were extremely grateful for the help they received.
Here we are and another New Year begins. As it does, I can’t help reflecting back over all the hopes, dreams… and disappointments of New-Years gone by. We often talk of New Year’s resolutions and the hopes that as another new year dawns, we will somehow, somewhere find the strength, the focus the increased will-power needed to achieve things that have been niggling away at us, often for significant periods of time.
This year is our 125th Anniversary; therefore we want our Christmas Eve Street Collection to be even more successful than previous years.
Our team of volunteers and staff contribute their time in order to raise funds for 'those who need it most'. It is a great event to be a part of and involves working alongside a friendly, generous and caring team. It is always heart-warming to see the successfulness of our traditional street collections and the generosity that is displayed. This then makes a huge difference in the lives of families who are in need.
