Older People

Tea dances

This venture represents a return to the original roots of the Mission. The Grosvenor Hall, through its many guises, has always provided a friendly, social venue for people from all sections of the community in Belfast.

"The atmosphere in that Hall - you couldn't have bought it!"

The Tea Dances, which began in January 2005, are held eight times a year and are becoming increasingly popular as news of them spreads by word of mouth. The Grosvenor Hall is filled with up to 100 older people joining in the old-time dances or just enjoying the company. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the afternoon is rounded off with afternoon tea. Volunteers are involved in this programme by preparing the food, serving afternoon tea and clearing the hall when the dance is over.
