The LITE Project (16-25)
Living Independently Through Empowerment
The LITE Project aims to help vulnerable young people in North Down & Ards and Armagh & Dungannon* to remain in stable accommodation whilst moving towards living independently in the community. The service offered covers a full range of practical and emotional support in life-building skills for up to two years. The young person can 'float' in and out of the service which means that if he/she moves location within the designated Trust area the support will follow.
Our support workers are highly trained and experienced in working with vulnerable young people and can offer practical support in helping organise benefits, helping them to maintain accommodation, and advice on taking care of themselves. They are also are on hand to offer a listening ear and spend time with the young people in comfortable and safe surroundings. The Project offers group work opportunities to promote independent living skills and to help the young people to form social links and to get out of their homes.
*The young people are referred and this project supported by NIHE Supporting People, South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust and Southern Health & Social Care Trust
