LITE 60+ (LITE stands for Living Independently Through Empowerment)
LITE 60+ provides support to help people aged 60yrs and over to remain independent and continue to live in their own homes for as long as possible. Currently the service is open to people who are:
- Living in the South and East Belfast Area
- Aged 60+ and in need of housing support
- People who have their own tenancies (NIHE, private landlord or owner occupied)
The service is for a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of two years, in which time the older person can "float in and out" as their needs change. It is designed for those who will benefit from a time limited period of support. The service is also available to support those who are having to make a decision about their long term care and may feel better informed after a period of community based support.
LITE 60+ offers:
- Help with the maintenance, safety and security of your home
- Help with benefits
- Help to access health services
- Practical support e.g. with shopping or appointments
- Advice
- Someone to talk to
- Access to social activities
Currently all referrals come through Belfast HSC Trust or the Northern Ireland Housing Executive however we are hopeful that as resources become available we will be able to open up the service to self referrals and referrals from other voluntary organisations.
