Supporting those who need it most

02/11/2006 Looking ahead to Christmas at BCM

Yes, it’s on its way again! Individuals and organisations around the province are already working to gather toys for many disadvantaged children. Applications for help have started flooding in from parents, carers and Social Workers and the volunteers have been ’booked’ to come in to Grosvenor House to sort and pack the toys.   Last Christmas 1,170 disadvantaged children received toy parcels and 600 food hampers were given out to older people, families and young mums. As always, all the toys and much of the food were donated and it is a constant source of amazement to us as we watch the donations flow in. We are also very humbled each year by the faithfulness and dedication of all those who are involved in the work - from BCM’s volunteers, to schools, local businesses, churches and individuals. It’s a huge team effort and everybody plays a vital role.

An integral part of the Christmas Programme is the “Giving Tree” which enables members of the public to donate a gift for a child. For the seventh successive year, the tree will be supported by and located in Marks & Spencer, Donegall Place, Belfast for the first two weeks in December. Look out for us there or, if you prefer, you can donate toys or food at Grosvenor House.

Deadline for food - 4th December

Deadline for toys - 11th December
