105 Years Young!

Kirk House resident Mrs Sadie Norris celebrated her 105th birthday at the weekend with her friends, family and neighbours.  Sadie and her twin sister May Porter were born in Belfast in 1910 when King Edward VII was on the throne and the Titanic had yet to be launched.  Sadie has lived all her life in Northern Ireland and was Manageress in Thompsons shop on the Cregagh Road before getting married to Robert in July 1946.

Volunteering opportunities

BCM is looking for keen volunteers with a knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to dedicate 2 hours of their time on Thursday nights to help run a youth group for 11-14 year old with ASD, where we provide a supportive environment for young adolescents with ASD to develop their self-esteem, interpersonal skills & social opportunities through group work, role plays, games, activities and outings.

Reminiscence Project Exhibition at Kirk House

'The Archers' come to Ards!

An exciting day recently for our young people's project in Newtownards as Joanne was interviewed by Felicity Finch (better known as Ruth Archer from the BBC Radio 4 programme, The Archers). Felicity was interviewing Joanne on behalf of a grant funder, St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity, which has awarded a number of much needed grants to our young service users, both in Ards and Dungannon. 

Kirk House wins Gold!


Celebrations are taking place in Kirk House Residential Home after they won the Gold Award in Dementia Design for their newly adapted wing, Memory Lane. Providing high quality dementia care, Memory Lane provides accommodation where residents with dementia can live safely and with dignity.

BCM's volunteers got together recently for a tour of the Crumlin Road Goal followed by a special celebration lunch at Grosvenor House to say thank you for all their support during the year.

Janet Sewell, BCM’s Community Services Manager said, “The volunteers make my work special.  They humble you with their positive attitude and how they give of their time so freely.  They make such a difference to so many peoples’ lives.”
