Well, one month of good intentions has passed by and no Ramblings from me.  However, here we are again and I’m very challenged by a decision my wife has made for the next few weeks.

As you may know, and even take account of in your own lives, the period leading up to Easter, often called Lent, is for many people a period of giving something up.  It can be a time of denying our own needs or pleasures, whilst reflecting upon the needs of others.

This year, my wife has decided she is going to give up ‘busyness’.

The team at Puddleducks are still coming down to earth after winning ‘Best Nursery in inner Belfast’ at the Families First Awards last week!  Puddleducks Manager Sharon Bushe said, “I am absolutely delighted that Puddleducks has been recognised as the Best Nursery!  The team are super proud of everything that Puddleducks offers all our little ducklings day in, day out and it is brilliant that Families First have seen this too!  Wow we are on cloud nine!  A massive thank you to everyone who voted … Puddleducks rocks!!!

Staff at BCM's Kirk House Residential Home have won a prestigious award which recognises their expertise in dementia care.  Kirk House won the 'Staff Team of the Year' Award on 4th February at the Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) NI Dementia Achievement Awards at the Europa Hotel which recognise organisations and individuals who have worked to improve the quality of life for people with living dementia. 

Housing Support for Older People in the Dungannon and Armagh area has been extended and they now cover the Craigavon, South Armagh and bordering areas.  This brings the total number supported from 50 to 80 older people.  This is great news for the team as it also welcomes two new members of staff.

The Planning application for BCM's flagship project, Copelands, Dementia and Nursing Care, has now been recommended for approval by DoE Planning and was endorsed by Ards Borough Council at their meeting on 13th January.
